MITCHELL D. PEDROFF, age 91, formerly of Piqua, Ohio went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday January 14, 2025 at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis, Michigan. He was born on February 14, 1933 in Canton, OH to the late Mitcho and Dina (Stanisheff) Pedroff. He married Kathleen Cavanaugh on July 9, 1966 in Alliance, OH and she survives.
Mitchell is also survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Catherine (Scott) Osborn, Waterford, Michigan and Julianne (Brandon) Kent, Sturgis, MI; three grandchildren: Justin Osborn, Allison Osborn, and Ethan Kent. He was preceded in death by one brother: Carl Pedroff; three sisters: Frances Manoloff, Olga Gouloff and Helen Bradley.
Mitchell graduated from Canton McKinley High School in 1951. He received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Miami University in 1955. He then earned a Master's degree from Kent State University in Guidance and Counseling in 1963. He was awarded a PhD in Education from Miami University in 1973. Mitchell was the Assistant Superintendent of Piqua City Schools for 24 years where he retired. He taught History, Government and Economics and valued education as a student and wanted to share his passion for education with young minds.
Mitchell was a lifetime member of Greene Street United Methodist Church, Piqua Kiwanis Club and the Piqua Masonic Temple. He had a passion for baking and watching sports. He enjoyed traveling to historic sites with his family.
Mitchell proudly enlisted in the US Army after graduating from college and served in Japan during the Korean conflict.
A Celebration to honor Mitchell's life will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday May 9, 2025 at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home, Piqua, OH with Pastor Will Leasure officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Greene Street United Methodist Church 415 W. Greene St. Piqua, OH. 45356.
