It is with both a heavy heart and a lighthearted spirit that we remember the life of the Marlin Albert Dutil, who was born in North Vassalboro, Maine, on March 31, 1936, and passed away on October 20, 2025. Marlin was a man who could fill a room with laughter, a funny soul whose jokes and antics were the highlight of every family gathering. He was also a thoughtful and loving family man, generous in spirit and action. As the famous quote by Maya Angelou goes, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel," and Marlin made everyone he met feel special and loved.
Marlin joined the Airforce right after High School he served his country well.
Marlin spent his life working in the automotive industry, with a particular knack for auto body repair. Everyone in his business called him Mel. He was a master of his craft, but his true passion lay in his family. Marlin was a devoted father to his children; Stella Harmon, Daniel Dutil, David Dutil, Jason Mayhew, and Dianna Morgan. His love extended to his grandchildren; Heather Morgan, Stevie McCoy, Julia Cazort, Bryan Dutil, Heather Harmon, Hollis Morgan, Chris Dutil, and Jamie Dutil. He was also a beloved great-grandfather to Crystle Rohweder, Cheyanne Clark-Morgan, Patricia Sackshucey, and Angelique Danner, Miles Dutil. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Romano and brother Norman Dutil.
Marlin was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Margaret Dutil, and his beloved wife, Patricia Dutil. His life will be celebrated on Monday, October 27, 2025, starting with a funeral service at 9:00am at Edline-Yahn & Covington Funeral Chapel, followed by a graveside service at Gethsemane Cemetery at 11:00am. A reception will be held afterwards at 1:00pm at the Black Bear Diner Federal Way. His life was a testament to the power of laughter, love, and family, and his memory will live on in the many lives he touched. As we remember Marlin, we smile, because that's what he would have wanted.
