Marlys Borkowski, age 78, of Audubon, IA, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Audubon with Rev. Sean Dougherty officiating. Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon. A luncheon will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church following the burial.

Visitation with the family will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for designation at a later date and can be sent in care of Schmidt Family Funeral Home to P.O. Box 201, Audubon, IA 50025.

Marlys Jo Ann Borkowski was born September 24, 1946, to Walter L. and Hilda Borkowski in Audubon County. Marlys was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln Township. She attended country schools, and at Gray until it consolidated and she graduated from Audubon High School in 1965.

She worked as a waitress and cook at many local cafes. The Chatterbox being her last place of employment.

When she wasn't going to bed and getting up with the chickens, she enjoyed bowling, playing golf, and going fishing with Jim. She and Jim would travel to Texas to visit family and friends, but they wouldn't go for very long so she could get back to work.

Marlys was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Hilda Borkowski; significant other, Jim Haskins; sister, Loretta Rustvold; brother, Eldon Borkowski; sister-in-law, Marsha Borkowski; brothers-in-law, Lloyd Kelly and Harold Rustvold; nephews, Brian and Philip Rustvold and niece, Sara Borkowski.

Marlys is survived by her sister, Donna Kelly; brothers, James Borkowski and Dale (Delyte) Borkowski, and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
