Marrella Ann Guidry Hebert

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Marrella Ann Guidry Hebert, 79, who passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. The Rev. Msgr. Keith DeRouen will officiate the ceremony. Interment will immediately follow the service at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. 

Visitation hours will be observed at Walters Funeral Home on Monday, September 9, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and will resume on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 7:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.  A rosary will be prayed on Monday evening at 6:30 p.m., led by Catholic Daughters and Lori's Angels.  Another rosary will be prayed on Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m., and will be led by Della's Rosary Group.

Marrella is survived by four daughters, Trudy Campbell and her husband Lane of Baton Rouge, Carlene Hebert of Breaux Bridge, Amy Brown and her husband Kerry of New Roads, and Laura LeBlanc and her husband David of Breaux Bridge; one son, Johnathan Hebert and his wife Dawn of Breaux Bridge; nine grandchildren, Taylor Huval, Cade Campbell, Brye Latiolais, Chelsea Smith, Gabrielle LeBlanc, Ava Hebert, Drake Brown, Ethan Hebert, and Paige Brown; four great-grandchildren, Mason Huval, Blakely Campbell, Landson Smith, and Braxton Huval; one sister, Mary Thibodeaux and her husband Michael of Scott; and one brother, Larry Guidry and his wife Myra of Scott.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Hebert; her parents, Cleopha and Erisse Chiasson Guidry; her maternal grandparents, Hebra and Alice Romero Chiasson; her paternal grandparents, Elias and Corinne Martin Guidry; three sisters, Palma LeBlanc, Fannie Alleman, and Frances Constantine; and four brothers, Villiar Guidry, Leroy Guidry, Vincent Guidry, and Kermit Guidry.

Our mother was a classy and humble lady. It seems her main mission in life was to love others as Jesus loved all of us. She never gave up on people. She prayed in silence for the unkind and for the conversion of their souls. She instilled in us to always do the right thing (even if that meant having to do it alone), no matter what because it’s the right thing to do…it was what Jesus would do.

Coming from a large family of 10, she was a tremendous cook and baker like her mother. If there was a bridal shower, baby shower, birthdays, or cake sales at church she was always there to bake the cake, homemade with decorations to boot.

Our mother had many talents. She could sew anything from baby smocked dresses to cheerleader uniforms, dancing costumes, prom dresses, and wedding dresses. If she didn’t have a sewing pattern, she made her own. She took pride in doing the flowers & decorations for all 4 daughters’ weddings, and for her daughter-in-law & grandchildren’s weddings.

Christmas was her favorite time of year! Her and our dad loved wood working with a skill saw, and they made their own patterns for Christmas decorations. Growing up, the Hebert home was known for the house with the most Christmas lights with the word Noel shining in the windows.

Mom was a very devoted servant to the Catholic church. She was instrumental in helping to start the first youth group at Saint Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Cecilia. She helped the youth group raise enough money to go on a trip to Six Flags in Houston, Texas.

She taught religion classes for 14 years. She was a substitute teacher at our schools for 7 years. She was a lay minister for 36 years. She brought communion to the nursing home of Saint Agnes of Breaux Bridge and to the homebound.

In February of 2010, she joined Catholic daughters of America and began her commitment to 14 years adoration for one hour weekly.

She was married for 44 years.

Our mother had an associate’s degree in accounting and did bookkeeping for our dad’s business for 16 years. She worked in retail for 6 years, then worked at Poché’s Market & Restaurant for 23 years until she retired at 71 years old.

Pallbearers will be David LeBlanc, Kerry Brown, Cade Campbell, Brye Latiolais, Drake Brown, and Ethan Hebert.  Honorary Pallbearers are Johnathan Hebert and Lane Campbell.
