Marsha Belle (Huntley) Ivins was born August 8, 1948, in Elk City, Oklahoma to Donald and Vaughnceil (Smit) Huntley. She passed from this life on October 8, 2024, at her home in Tahlequah, OK, at the age of 76 years.
Marsha grew up in Elk City and was a member of the First Presbyterian church. She attended Elk City Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1966. She attended Oklahoma State University and graduated in 1970, with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, and later received a Master's Degree from Northeastern State University in 1982.
On July 15, 1975, Marsha married Bobby Ivins. They lived in Hillsboro, TX, and Mulvane, KS before moving to Tahlequah in 1978. She taught elementary P.E until her retirement in 2000. Two of the highlights from her teaching career were the organization of both the Cherokee Braves Hot Shots basketball drill team at Cherokee Elementary and the first Tahlequah High School girls' golf team in 1990. Marsha earned Regional Coach of the year in 1999.
During their retirement years Marsha and Bobby enjoyed playing golf, entertaining guests on a houseboat they built together and traveling to El Centro, CA to play golf during the winter months. They enjoyed meeting new friends and making many new memories
Marsha is survived by her husband of 49 years, Bobby Ivins her stepson Bobby Lee Ivans and wife Catherine of Elk City, her sister, Brenna Huntley of Elk City, and special "dog children" Bunker and Blitz, and many special cousins. Also Cherishing her memory are her many, many friends.
A celebration of Marsha's life will be held at Green Country Funeral home, Saturday October 19 at 1:30 P.M. The family would like for everyone who would like, to wear orange in celebration of Marsha's life.
In Lieu of flowers, if you wish to donate please give to the Humane society of Cherokee County or Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute in Tulsa.
