Marshall "Goose" Buchen, 87, of Bushnell, Illinois passed away at home on Sunday March 9, 2025. He was born September 19, 1937 in Prairie City, IL to Marshall and Geneva (Walters) Buchen. He married Sue Kirby on July 3, 1960 in Bushnell, Illinois. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Teresa Ebbert of Bushnell, IL; Susan (Bryan) Banks of Lindenhurst, IL; Trudy (Jeff) Warmath of Bushnell, IL; six grandchildren, Brittney (Garrett) Jarvis, Zach (Sydni) Ebbert, Bryana and Kelse Banks, Kayleigh and Hunter Warmath; four great-grandchildren, Beckhem Ebbert, Lyla Jarvis, Laken Ebbert, Max Warmath; one sister, Donna Ide of Monmouth, IL; and many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Barbara Miller and Carol Markley.
Goose served four years in the Navy, worked at Vaughan & Bushnell, was a volunteer fireman and served as Fire Chief for 13 years. He was also an alderman for 12 years and he owned the Jenny Wren Club for over 30 years. Throughout his life, Goose was an avid Cubs, Bears & Illini fan. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, and traveling with Sue, especially to Las Vegas! He loved his family and especially his grandchildren & great grandchildren.
A celebration of Life will be held on Friday March 14, 2025 at the Jenny Wren Club from 3pm until ??? The family requests Cub attire. A private burial was held at the Bushnell Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Bushnell Fire & Rescue, Bushnell Swimming Pool or to the Shaw Creek Golf Course. Martin-Hollis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
