Marshall D. "Maddawg" Downs, age 62, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at O.S.U. Medical Center in Columbus. He was born September 18, 1963, in Circleville, the son of the late Marshall Dwayne Downs Jr. and Rebecca M. (Derr) Downs Dunn, who survives. He was a graduate of Amanda Clearcreek High School, class of 1981. Soon after graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, beginning a career that lasted 26 years on active duty, retiring as Command Sergeant Major, and then an additional 15 years as a Federal Employee, Engineering Supervisor, Department of Public Works. He was a key mastermind in the creation of KOR 51-1, the original overseas chapter of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association. Maddawg loved to ride his Harley Street Glide. He loved watching football and was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes.
He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Rachel (Del Pilar) Downs; mother, Rebecca M. (Derr) Downs Dunn, of Ocala, FL; children, Stacie (Dustin) Hannay, of Plain City, OH, Terra (Bryan) Downs-Grable, of MO, Michelle Del Pilar, of the Phillipnes, and Hazel (Ryan) Clendenin, of Tacoma, WA; grandchildren, Kolten, Alithyia, Peytience, Dwayne, Gavin, and Trevor; siblings, Debbie Collins, Cheryl Lynn Garner, Steve Dunn, Shane Dunn, Rietta Johnson, and Colleene Dunn; nephew (like a son), Jamie (Candice) Pearce. He is preceded in death by his father, Marshall Dwayne Downs Jr. and his step-father, Ray Dunn.
A service with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, 111 W. Main St., Amanda, OH. Cremation will follow the service. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
