Marshall Earl Mash was born October 8th, 1933 and lived with us for 90 triumphant years. He rejoined his bride of 62 years on the sixth anniversary of her passing, October 20th, 2023. Earl was a devoted husband, dedicated father, treasured grandfather, a celebrated Army veteran, and a beloved man by all that knew him. The mark he's left on each of us will be great, and he will be deeply missed.
Earl was a titan of a man. He could be found spending his early mornings before school and again after-school tending livestock with Mr. Hugh White. Earl attended Keller High School where he would meet his match with a fiery little pistol, Maudine Doughtery. Earl graduated Keller High School in 1953. He served in the Army Medical Corp from 1954 to 1956 where he was the personal driver for Commander for the William Beaumont Army Hospital and he drove Perry Mason's, Raymond Burr and other dignitaries about. Earl was never a rule breaker, but he was known to be missing on occasion when stationed in El Paso; Earl went AWOL to fly home to Keller on weekends to see his new bride whom he wed in 1955.
Earl was no stranger to lacing up his bootstraps for a hard day's work. While attending school in Keller, Earl lived with Hugh and Lyda White. Once with Mr. White, he showed the highest selling Polled Hereford heifer Grand Champion in Texas in 1952. After graduation, he worked in the Fort Worth Stockyards as a cattle buyer. He also worked for the railroad. Earl worked for Bell Helicopter for 32 years where he was a machinist. Earl and Maudine raised three children in Keller, in 1978 they moved the family to a farm in Krum. Earl and Maudine were members of the First Baptist Church of Keller.
Earl is preceded in death by his wife, Maudine Mash; his parents, Arleigh and Emma Mash; brothers Charles Mash and Donald Mash; and sister Mary Ruth Person. He is survived by his three children, Melanie Noe (Clint Noe); Robbie Mash (Lesa Mash); and Roland Mash (Heidi Mash). Earl was "Papa" to eight grandchildren, Megan Noe Peters and husband Johnathan, Colin Noe, Jayme Mash Aukerman and husband Michael, Jack Mash, Korey Trahan, Ethan, Colton and Eli Mash, and four great-grandchildren, Jacob and Joel Aukerman and Mabrey Jo and Jameson Peters, and another one on the way.
In the time we had with Earl, he was many things to many of us. A builder, a father, a leader, a safe place, a best friend, a farmer, a son, a brother, an uncle and our Papa. We are grateful for each moment shared with him and Papa's legacy will be remembered for years to come.
