Martha Welcker Fox, 80, of Charleston, entered into eternal rest Monday, July 21, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Monday, July 28, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1695 Raoul Wallenberg Blvd., Charleston. The Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery on James Island. The family will receive friends between 3:00 and 5:00 PM Sunday at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home.

Martha was born in Charleston, South Carolina, the beloved daughter of the late Lee Artis Welcker and Ella Nora Bolchoz Welcker.

Affectionately known as "Granny" or "Granny Annie" to so many dear loved ones- both family and chosen-Martha was a warm, generous and spirited presence in the lives of all who knew her. She was surrounded in the love of her numerous nieces and nephews. She spent 30 wonderful years married to the love of her life, the late Leroy T. Fox, cherishing their journey together.

Martha is survived by her devoted children, Bonnie (Todd) Munn and Scott (Tina) Fox, and her beloved "adopted" children, Judy and Ray Ellis. She was the proud grandmother to Bryson, Noah, Trey and Caelen Munn; Karlie Brown; Tyler Prentiss; Ryan and Joel Ellis and Salina and Jaxon Zelasko. She is also survived by her loving sister and brother, Bonnie (Randy) Edenfield and Barry (Dana) Welcker. She was predeceased by her brother, Ronald Welcker and her sister Artes Welcker Clair.

A graduate of Bishop England High School, she served as president of the Future Business Leaders of America. Martha carried her leadership and dedication into a long and successful career as Administrative Supervisor at the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.A woman of deep faith, Martha was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for many years. There she joyfully taught Sunday school and enjoyed serving on the Women's Guild. In her later years, she found spiritual comfort and community as a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Martha (Granny, Granny Annie) leaves behind a legacy of love, service, faith and family. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Austin Pets Alive, or to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Bereavement Committee.

If you plan to send flowers, we highly suggest using a local florist instead of ordering from an online vendor. Charleston has many. Kindly ask your florist to deliver Saturday between 10 and 2, and Sunday morning between 10 and 12 Noon.
