Gail Harrison, age 84, of Jasper, Georgia, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025 at home. Gail was born January 10, 1941 in Atlanta, Georgia to Carlton and Martha Wise Bowden.
Gail graduated from Bass High School in Atlanta in 1958. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 1962 with a degree in journalism and later earned a Masters Degree from North Georgia College in Early Childhood Education. Gail and Tom Harrison were married on July 28, 1962 at Kirkwood Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. She was briefly employment at the Marshall Space Center in Huntsville, Alabama. She taught first grade at Jasper Elementary School for 24 years. She and Tom both retired in 1997 and enjoyed traveling the world with a local travel group. They also enjoyed traveling in their motor home in Florida and South Carolina. Gail enjoyed gardening, painting, crafts, and collecting antiques. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
She and Tom had two children, Andrea Hulsey of Cleveland, Georgia and Julie Walker of Jefferson, Georgia; and five grandchildren, Blake Hulsey, Brian Hulsey, Savanah Walker, Alexis Walker, and Noah Walker. Gail also leaves behind sisters, Marion Melton and Beth Laney. Other family members also survive.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Carlton and Martha Bowden and her son-in-law, Jim Hulsey.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Jasper United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Meadows officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens at 1140 West Church Street; Jasper, GA 30143.
The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Jasper United Methodist Church or Good Samaritan Health and Wellness Center.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
