Martha Hensley, a beloved homemaker and seamstress, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024, in East Bernstadt, Kentucky. Born on March 17, 1933, in Leslie County, she was a remarkable woman whose hands not only created beautiful garments but also wove together a loving family.
Martha was dedicated to her family, which included her two sons, Charles Hensley, who is married to Nanny Maria, and Boyd Hensley, who is married to Jessica. She also cherished her daughters, Bonnie Roberts, married to Mark, and Mary Ann Hensley, brothers, Walter Collins, Willie Collins, Brown Law Collins, Vernon Collins, Bobby Hoskins, sisters, Mary Bowling and Marie Hoskins.
Her legacy extends through her grandchildren, Willie Jr. Hoskins, Gina Vernon, Phillip Begley, Allen Roberts, Tammy Adams, Tracy Gipson, Martha Christy Hensley, Katherine Couch, Ada Hensley, Critt Couch, Martha Audrey Hensley, Boyd Jr. Hensley, Christopher Hensley, Nicholas Hensley, and Eli Hensley. Additionally, Martha is survived by a host of great and great-great-grandchildren who will carry her spirit forward.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Dee Collins and Lizzie Burns Collins and life-long companion, Sterling Barnes. She also mourned the loss of her sons, Willie Hoskins and Critt Hensley, daughter, Ruth Jane Hensley and brothers, Pleasie Hoskins and Virgil Hoskins.
In her lifetime, Martha touched the hearts of many with her kindness and creativity. Her passion for sewing not only brought joy to her family but also served as a creative outlet that reflected her loving nature. As we remember Martha, let us celebrate the warmth and kindness she shared freely with all who knew her. Her spirit will live on in the memories cherished by her family and loved ones.
Funeral: Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, Kentucky
Ministers: Rev. Charles Hensley, Rev. Roy Eversole, and Eulogist Allen Roberts
Interment: Hensley Cemetery, Sizerock, Kentucky
Pallbearers: Sam Vernon, Blake Vernon, Richard Adams, Marcus Gibson, Jeff Gipson, Critt Couch and Christopher Hensley
Visitation: Thursday, Dec. 19th at 12:00 Noon at the Funeral Home Chapel
