Cumberland, MD-Martha Jane Hochard, 90, of Cumberland, MD passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Peace Healthcare at Lions Center.
Born February 11, 1933, in Cumberland, MD, Mrs. Hochard was the daughter of the late Richard Thomas Welker and Martha Elmira (Allen) Welker. She was also preceded in death by her husband: Arthur "Art" Hochard; and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Martha was a graduate of Allegany High School Class of 1951 and also Catherman's Business School. She retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Company and was a member of First Presbyterian Church where in her earlier years she taught Sunday school, was an elder, and sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Highlanders Association at the church.
Martha is survived by a special niece Diane Bennett and husband Rick and their family.
Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD (www.adamsfamilyfuneralhome.com) on Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Alison Peters officiating.
Interment will be in Ft. Ashby Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in her name to the Shriners' Children's Hospital, c/o: Ali Ghan Shrine Club, P.O. Box 1416, Cumberland, MD 21501-1416.
The family would like to extend a special thanks for her neighbors, Bill and Brenda Yost, for being so kind and helpful over the years, it is greatly appreciated.
