Martha Arlene Hostetler, of Sugarcreek, Ohio, a sweet lady of 75, passed away following a sudden illness, on Saturday, June 1, 2024. Born March 16, 1949, in Millersburg, Ohio, to the late Daniel and Dorothy (Barr) Miller, she stepped into heaven, surrounded by her family at her home.
She was married to Freeman B. Hostetler, on July 18, 1970, sharing over 46 years together. Marty was a loving and devoted wife, mom, grandmother, and friend to many. She was a woman of faith who loved God and served Him--finding joy in caring for others in her church and community.
Marty deeply loved her family, and worked hard alongside Freeman their entire life to provide for their proudest achievements-- their boys and their families. She will be greatly missed by her sons Kirby (Holly) Hostetler, Shawn (Melissa) Hostetler, and Ben (Nicole) Hostetler, and will embrace Teresa again, her daughter who preceded her in death. Grandma H, aka Memaw, aka Mimi--is also missed by her 9 grandchildren: Tyler, Noelle, Jacob, Evie, Freeman, Hannah, Abigail, Caleb, and Lydia.
Marty was loved by her siblings, Dale-deceased (Betty) Miller, Doyle (Jayne) Miller, Margaret (Jim-deceased) McGinnis, Roscoe-deceased (Alice) Miller, and Ralph (Linda) Miller.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 from 9 am -11 am at Smith-Varns Funeral Home, 115 Andreas Drive, Sugarcreek, Ohio. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM, with Pastor Tom Shank officiating, and a meal to follow. Graveside services for the family, will be held at the Berlin Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lakeview Baptist Church, 10202 SR 93, Dundee, OH 44624. For those unable to attend--please visit the funeral home's website to share a memory and sign the guest register.
