Martha Ann Warren Leatherwood, age 88, of Roswell, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on September 23, 2025. She was born on May 27, 1937, in
East Point, Georgia, to the late Thomas Sr. and Viola Warren.
Martha began her education in the Fulton County School System before relocating with her family to Philadelphia. There, she graduated from South Philadelphia High School for Girls. She later earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Georgia State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design from American Intercontinental University.
Through a family connection-her cousin Leland, an Army buddy of Norman's-Martha met the love of her life, Mr. Norman Leatherwood, while in Philadelphia. They were united in holy matrimony on April 28, 1962, and were blessed with two sons, Alan and Bryant.
Martha enjoyed a distinguished professional career that included work with Curtis Publishing Company and the Social Security Administration. She later served many years in civil service with the United States Army, retiring honorably as a GS-12 Budget Analyst. Following her retirement, she pursued her lifelong passion for interior design by founding Martha Leatherwood Interiors, where she transformed houses into beautiful, welcoming homes.
Her achievements were recognized by the Northlake Charter Chapter of the American Businesswomen's Association (ABWA), which honored her with the "Woman of the Year" award in 1981, 1992, and 2002. Martha had a zest for life-she loved to travel, shop, read mystery novels, and complete jigsaw puzzles.
A devoted member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, she remained committed to her faith and church family for many years. Though her attendance lessened as her health declined, her devotion to the Lord never wavered.
Martha will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to family left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Norman Leatherwood; two sons, Alan (Kelly) Leatherwood and Bryant (Keila) Leatherwood; two sisters, Gloria Washington and Helen Hamilton; and six cherished grandchildren: Alex, Autumn, Adam, Liam, Emmanuel, and Alejandro. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Sr. and Viola Warren; her brothers, William, Thomas, James H., James F., and Ronald; and her sisters, Evelyn and Myrtice.
Martha's life was a testament to faith, perseverance, and love. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and in the family she so deeply loved.
