Martha Luisa Torres, 84, of Elgin, Texas, passed away on August 13, 2025. She was born in San Antonio, Texas, on May 5th, 1941. She was a devout Catholic and a very hard worker. She was very independent and a dedicated person. She lived for Sunday Mass and always sat on the front pew. She loved reading her Bible every morning and night. She also loved listening to music and dancing to it at home. She also loved playing bingo.
With heartfelt gratitude, we celebrate the extraordinary life of our beloved mother, Martha L. Torres, whose passing eliminates a lasting legacy of unconditional love, unyielding resilience, and remarkable strength. Though her departure leaves a void, we find comfort in the countless memories we shared, which will continue to inspire, motivate, and uplift us.
Martha's unwavering love, guidance, and wisdom empowered us to become compassionate, resilient, and strong individuals. Her remarkable legacy will flourish through her remaining four children: Debra, JoAnn, Samuel, and Daniel. We are truly blessed to have had her, our mother, and are grateful for the 80-plus years we shared with her. Mom, rest in peace, knowing we love you eternally and will continue to honor your life, legacy, and profound impact. Until we meet again!
Martha is preceded in death by her mother, Maria Luisa Gutierrez, and father, Manuel Ledon, Sr., and her sister, Estella Ledon. Also, by her son, Gilbert Rodriguez, Jr., and daughter, Maria Luisa T. Rodriguez, and granddaughter, Ana Maria R. Vazquez.
Martha is survived by her daughter, Debra Rodriguez and her husband, David Rodriguez, her daughter, JoAnn Gonzalez and husband, Luis Retana, her two sons, Samuel J. Rodriguez and Daniel Rodriguez, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Family and Friends will gather for the Visitation at Elgin Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 20th, from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM. A Celebration of Christian Funeral Mass will be conducted at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Elgin on Thursday, August 21st, at 10:00 AM with Father Paul Hudson presiding. A Christian Burial will follow at Elgin Latin Cemetery.
