Martha Ann Lucas, beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend, aged 84, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, in Greenwood, Indiana. Born on September 23, 1941, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Martha was the cherished daughter of Edmond and Mary Isenberg, who have since preceded her in death.
A proud graduate of Howe High School, Martha began her professional journey shortly after graduation at Eli Lilly, where she dedicated 33 years of her life, retiring in 1993 as an Administrative Assistant in marketing. Her commitment to her work was a testament to her diligent nature and the passion she possessed for her role.
Martha's 52-year marriage to her husband Ray was filled with love, laughter, and numerous cherished memories. Together, they enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, from monthly bowling nights with the Lilly Bowling League to square dancing, where their love flourished amid the twirls and rhythms of the dance floor. A true sports enthusiast, Martha proudly held Colts season tickets for many years, enjoying the thrill of the game and the shared joy of tailgating, often humorously mistaken for relatives of the owner of Lucas Oil Company, the stadium's namesake.
Throughout the colder months, Martha found joy and warmth in Florida, where she spent winters at River Breeze with friends, embracing sunshine and laughter amidst social gatherings that filled her heart with cherished moments and new friendships.
Martha's life was marked by her unwavering compassion and dedication to those around her. She had a unique ability to lift spirits and extend a helping hand to anyone in need, never knowing a stranger and leaving a noticeable impact on all those she met. Her radiant smile and infectious laughter will forever resonate in the hearts of her family and friends.
Martha's legacy will live on through her loving family members. She is survived by her brother, James Isenberg and his wife Regina; her sister-in-law, Faye Basler; and a host of nieces and nephews, including Jay Isenberg, Jennifer Hammond (Bart), Jimmy Basler (Stayce), Shelly Wampler (Mark), and Anita Hicks (Rick), along with several beloved great nieces, nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
Martha's visitation will take place on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at the Community Life Center at Washington Park East Cemetery, located at 10612 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46229. A funeral service will follow at noon, culminating with her burial immediately after the service.
As we gather to celebrate her extraordinary life, let us remember Martha Ann Lucas not just for her remarkable achievements, but for the love, kindness, and joy she brought to all who were fortunate to know her.
