Martha Lois Marcum, 72, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
She was born in Madison County, Kentucky on Sunday, April 12, 1953, the daughter of the late James H. and Pauline Azbill Marcum. Martha Lois attended Kirksville Junior High School and was a 1971 graduate of Madison Central High School. She earned her B. S. Degree in English from Eastern Kentucky University. She was a retired employee of Eastern Kentucky University where she served as an Administrative Assistant in the English Dept. for 40 years. As a member of Big Hill Christian Church, she enjoyed singing in the choir and participating in the Happy Christians group.
Survivors include her brother, James H. Marcum II (Jimmy) and his wife, Cil; two nieces, Michelle Sharp and her husband, Tim, and Beth Hudson and her husband, Jed; one nephew, Nicholas Marcum and his wife, Joanna; great nieces and nephews, Wesley Marcum, Wyatt Marcum, Sophia Sharp, Liberty Gilbert, Walker Marcum, Adalyn Gilbert, Caleb Hudson, Ella Sharp, Kate Sharp and Parker Hudson.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 PM Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Combs, Parsons and Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Pearson and Bro. Jim Riggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be after 10:30 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Nicholas Marcum, Wesley Marcum, Wyatt Marcum, Walker Marcum Caleb Hudson and Parker Hudson.
Honarary Pallbearers will be the Happy Christians of Big Hill Christian Church.
Expressions of Sympathy may be made to Big Hill Christian Church, 1150 Goggins Lane, Richmond, KY 40475 or Compassionate Care Center, 350 Isaacs Lane, Richmond, KY 40475.
