Martha Parker Obituary

Martha graduated from East Carolina University with a Master of Arts and Education degree. She was Dean of the Continuing Education and taught English at Wake Technical Community College. Martha enjoyed reading and loved to write. Many received her handwritten cards and notes. She had a generous heart and found joy giving thoughtful gifts. She loved her rescued dog, Chloe, who was her constant companion.
She was a loving wife, devoted sister, and faithful Christian.
Mrs. Parker is survived by her husband, Lonnie "Jim" Parker; step son, Jimmy (Becky) Parker; step daughters, Barbara (Adam) Whitfield and Jessica Gunter; grandchildren, Haleigh Parker, Layla Parker, Lonnie Parker, Lenora Parker, Lillie Whitfield, Emma Whitfield, Tucker Whitfield; sisters, Vicky VanDam, Cheryl Lancaster (Mitch), Anna Carter (Hal); cousin Paula Burton (Jeff) who was like a sister; and her beloved dog, Chloe.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 27, 2025 at Riverside Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Chase Green. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am. Burial will follow on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids, NC with Rev. Sue Owens officiating the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Riverside Baptist Church.
