Martha Jean Knight Sneed (83), beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 15, 2025. She was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi on December 14, 1941, to Herman and Mae Gordon Knight. She was the second born of their seven children (Billy, Jean, Charles, Wesley, Jerry, Carolyn and Lynn).
Jean attended Dublin High School and graduated in 1961 before meeting the love of her life, Robert, while working together at South Central Bell. They were married on June 4, 1964, and celebrated fifty beautiful years together before he passed away in 2017. During their loving union, they had two children, Robert Wayne Junior and Kathy Denise.
Jean took special joy in spending time with her family. Her grandchildren, Madelyn and Mason were her pride and joy. Many of her favorite memories with them were spent camping together at Persimmon Hill. She also cherished spending time with her son-in-law Michael. They had a meaningful bond and enjoyed countless conversations together on the back porch over morning coffee.
Jean is survived by her two children, Kathy Williamson (Michael) and Wayne Sneed (Debbie), as well as her grandchildren Madelyn Williamson (Justin) and Mason Williamson. She will be missed terribly by them all.
Jean's service will be Monday, Feb 17, 2025, at 1:00pm at Meredith Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, Mississippi. A graveside service will follow immediately after at Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 11:30am prior to the funeral. Pallbearers will be Brandon Sadler, Hunter Hill, Justin Long, Chris Stewart and Allen Sneed.
