Martha J. Thompson, 90, Avon, formerly of Mooresville and Brownsburg, passed away at Wellbrooke of Avon, where she resided for the past nine years. Mrs. Thompson was born November 2, 1933, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late James O. and Stella G. (McDaniel) McGraw. She married the late Kenneth Thompson on February 2, 1952, and he preceded her in death in 2002. Ken affectionately referred to Martha as Precious, and as a result, the nickname stuck with her many friends and acquaintances through the years.

She attended Portsmouth High School and later graduated from Ben Davis High School after the family moved to Indianapolis. She enjoyed a successful career as a workman’s compensation investigator for General Motors and was a model for new GM vehicles for 30 years, retiring in 1987. She was a former member of the Mooresville Church of Christ and more recently was a member of the Brownsburg Church of Christ.

Martha was a beloved wife, mom, and “granny” to her loved ones who will always remember her for her dependability, love, and generosity. She enjoyed domestic and international travel and cheering on her grandchildren at their many events. She loved animals and was an avid sports fan. She was known for cheering loudly for Ohio State and Iowa. A natural leader, Martha was considered by many loved ones as the "Mayor of Mooresville", and while at Wellbrooke, she was president of the members' community. Martha will be fondly remembered by loving family and many friends.

In addition to her parents and her beloved husband Ken, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim, Bob, and Don McGraw; sisters, Helen, Charlotte, Betty, Ruth, and Jean.

Survivors include three daughters, Kelli (Kenny Hornbrook), Kathy Wargo, and Natalie Thompson; son, John (Kelly) Thompson; a sister, Susie Morgan; grandchildren, Nadia, Benjamin, and Elizabeth; Joshua, Jaclin, and Jacob; Brandi, Brooke, Nicole, and Tiffany; Mattie and Jennika; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A Life Celebration® Visitation will be held Monday, June 17, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at the funeral home. The burial will be in White Lick Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Children’s Hospital.
