Martin Dennis Cunningham Sr.

Marty Cunningham, a dedicated soldier, loving husband, and master mechanic, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, at the age of 64. A true patriot who understood honor, Marty dedicated his life to his family and his country.
Born on October 4, 1961, Marty served his nation with distinction as a soldier in the United States Army, embodying the core values of service and courage. Following his military career, Marty applied the discipline and excellence he learned to his civilian life, spending many years as a dedicated automotive manager and master mechanic at the GM Plant in Fairfax, MO.
Marty was truly a jack of all trades-a skilled small business owner and a master craftsman whose ingenuity was second to none. If you called him with a problem, he could tell you exactly how to fix it. Those lucky enough to be around him were constantly amazed by his true craft and expertise.
Marty's greatest love was his wife, Rhonda (Hudson) Cunningham. Though he may not have known it at the time, Rhonda knew at the age of 12 that she would marry him. They were high school sweethearts who spent more than 50 wonderful years together, raising children and grandchildren. They cherished time at the lake and traveling with family, creating countless memories.
He was a devoted father and Papa who took immense pride in his family.
Marty was preceded in death by his brothers, Randy Cunningham and Michael Cunningham, and his father, Wayne Hunter.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rhonda Cunningham; his mother, Barbara Hunter; his children, Martin Cunningham (Noelan Hensley), Joshua Cunningham (Cristy) and Shannon Copher (Aaron). He is also survived by his brothers, Kenny Cunningham, and Don Hunter (Lori); his sister, Patricia Breedlove (Daren); and his sister-in-law, Pam Cunningham. Marty was a proud Papa to Gavyn Cunningham (Reagan Hoyer), Jadyn Cunningham, Kylie Copher, and Isabella Cunningham.

• Visitation & Service: Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Hedges-Scott-Millard Funeral Homes, 902 East North Street, Eldon, MO 65026.
• Burial: Following the visitation, burial will take place with full military honors and salute at 265 SW 950th Road, Chilhowee, MO 64733.
