It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Martin F. Guzman, Jr., he passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday the 20th at 3: 20 pm. He had just celebrated his 84th birthday on June 7th, 2025.
He graduated from the Corpus Christi Academy Class of 1960 and went to get a business degree and real estate license for Del Mar College. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six and half years. While attending college, Martin helped his father run multiple family businesses; Guzman Green & White grocery store, washateria, apartments and several real estate rentals. Martin became a real estate broker and went on to open Gulf Coast Real Estate in the 80's. At the same time, he was awarded a U.S. Postal Service contract and was the clerk in charge of the Naval Air Station post office for over 20 years. In 1997, Martin and his son Michael opened Gulf Coast Mailing Services, LLC. He continued to help run the business until his passing. For over 28 years he dedicated his life and loved being at the office with his employees, which he considered family. In 2003 Martin and Michael were awarded The Small business of year by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Martin was a member of St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church.
Martin was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on June 7th,1941 and is proceeded in death by Martin F. Guzman, Sr. (father) and Oralia G. Guzman (mother) and Lucinda G Matthews (sister) & Douglas Matthews (brother-in-law), numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is survived by, his wife of 15 years, Gloria P. Guzman, Martin F. Guzman III (son) (Allison Guzman-daughter-in-law), Marcus R Guzman (son), Michael J Guzman (son) (Ana Guzman –daughter-in- law) Carl and David Matthews (nephews), and Grandkids, Ariana Guzman (Romario Perez-grandson in- law), Elijah Guzman, Alex and Maya Guzman.
Having the distinguished honor to serve as Pallbearers: Romario Perez, Everardo Cantu Jr., Jesse Gill III, Brandan Platz, David Matthews, Jesse Valdez

Friday, July 25, 2025 Visitation will resume at 10:00 a.m. St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. in the Church Burial will follow at Seaside Memorial Park at 1:00 p.m.
