Martin S. Milligan, age 61, of Rolfe, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City, Iowa.
Martin Samuel Milligan was born on December 29, 1963, in Sacramento, California. He was the son of Raymond Milligan and Gloria "Sherrie" Jamieson. Martin was raised in Camino, California, and at the age of 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. On May 26, 1984, Martin was united in marriage to Phyllis Hogge in Newport News, Virgina. The couple lived in Virginia and Martin continued his career in the Army. In 1988, the Army transferred Martin to Fairbanks, Alaska where his family followed. They moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1992 where Martin was discharged. They moved to Iowa shortly after, where they settled and Martin continued to serve the military in the Active Guard Reserve (AGR) as a supply specialist. He retired from the military in 2009. Martin worked for numerous employers through the years, which included Buske's Manufacturing, Hog Slat, Fiber Bodies, and as a welder and truck driver.
Martin was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed electronics, fabrication work, video games, fishing, camping, target shooting, fireworks, gardening, organizing, tinkering and he could fix almost anything. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of Rolfe; sons, Ray (Mindy) of Manilla; Chris (Lisa) of Pomeroy and Randall (Heather) of Rolfe; grandchildren, Lily, Lexi, Teagen, Colden, Lena, Alana, William and Donaven; his mother, Sherrie (Don) Taylor of College Station, TX; sister, Ann (Tony) Wightman of Washington, TX, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Martin was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Milligan; grandmother, Marie Mills, and his favorite dog, Bair.
