It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Martin "Marty" Harry Montgomery. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Marty passed away peacefully on October 25th, 2025 at the age of 76 surrounded by those who cherished him and benefited, often unseen, from his generous spirit.
Born on September 19th, 1949 to Harry and Ruth Montgomery. He was raised with a deep appreciation for the outdoors, a strong work ethic, and a very kind heart.
While cruising down the famous State Street he would meet the love of his life Debbie. After a year of dating they would be married in 1970 and start to build their beautiful life together. They recently celebrated their 55th anniversary.
Marty began working at a body shop at the age of 16. He would go on to own Marv's Autobody with his partner Jim Carter until his retirement.
He was known for his steady aim, quick wit and unwavering love for his family. A lifelong outdoorsman, Marty found peace in nature. Whether hunting in the woods, fishing at sunrise or simply sitting around a campfire with those he loved most. His greatest joy came from sharing those moments with his family.
Marty's presence filled every room with warmth and humor. He will be remembered for his generosity, integrity, and the quiet strength he carried through life. Marty was a steadfast caretaker, he cared for family, friends, neighbors and strangers alike with grace that never sought recognition. He believed that true joy came from lifting up those around him. He consistently put others' needs before his own. Often going without so that someone else could have more. Those who knew him often spoke of a man who found happiness not in what he could gain, but what he could give.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debra Lee (Garrick). His two children Aaron(Kristina) and Marnie(Craig). His grandkids, Austin(Beverly), Bailie(Brendan), Jade, Swaye, Shelbie and Asia. And his great-grandchildren Weston, Emeline and Dawson. His siblings Mike(Pam), LaRene, Danny(Shanna), Mont(Mauricea) and several wonderful nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Marty's life will be held on Saturday, November 15th from 11am until 2pm at The Summit Events Center 8724 South 700 East Sandy. Friends and family are invited to share memories and honor his legacy. The family has asked attendees to wear hunting attire in his honor to the celebration
