Martin "Marty" Reynolds, 71, of Lucas, IA, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024, at his home on the farm, where he spent most of his life.
Marty was born on February 2, 1953, the son of Burdette and Ramona (Heckman) Reynolds. After graduating from Southeast Warren in 1971, he devoted his life to the family farm, the BR Ranch. Marty took the reins, turning the farm into a cherished homestead for his siblings, his children, and countless loved ones over the years.
Farming was Marty's life, his passion, and his legacy. He loved working the land and caring for his livestock. For the past 28 years, Marty also worked at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Maintenance, where his tireless work ethic, words of wisdom, and love for the fair left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Marty will always be remembered as one of the good ones-a kind, simple man with a heartwarming personality, a knack for storytelling, and an unmatched love for sharing photos and moments from his life. He had a way of making everyone slow down, live in the moment, and appreciate life's simpler joys.
He was a beloved dad, grandpa, son, brother, uncle, and friend to so many. His grandson, Jack, will especially miss seeing him in the stands at his games, cheering him on with pride. Though his absence will be deeply felt, his memory will live on in the stories he told and the countless lives he touched. Those who loved him will continue to honor his legacy by sharing those memories for years to come.
Marty is survived by his daughter, Megan (Doug) Corson; stepsons, Andy (Amber) Apple, Nick (Lindsay) Apple, Scott and Brian Sydnes; six grandchildren, Taylor and Jack Corson, Ruger Apple, Jessica, Jasmine, and Justin Sydnes; siblings, Sheila (Mike) Blake, Marla (Jeff) Wilkerson, Kevin (Kim) Reynolds, Renae (Jim) Webb, David (Bryn) Reynolds; his dog, Merle; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma, and his parents.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, December 20th at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, with inurnment to follow at Liberty Center Cemetery, Liberty Center. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service, from Noon to 2 p.m.
