Marty Leiting Obituary
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, January 4, 2026 at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll with Fr. Merlin Schrad officiating. The casketbearers will be Dave Nepple, Larry Koening, Mike Mosman, John Olberding, Dave Leiting, Jason Terlisner and Ben Terlisner. Burial will be at 11 a.m., Monday in West Cemetery in Panora.
Following the funeral service, all are welcome to join Marty's family in the Sharp Center for a lunch and cocktail reception.
A visitation will be held from 1-2:45 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Marty's family at www.sharpfuneral.com.
Martyn Leiting, son of Melvin and Marilyn (Mosman) Leiting, was born on March 28, 1950, in Carroll, Iowa.
He grew up in Carroll and graduated from Kuemper in 1969. Marty then worked for the family business, Andrews Roofing, until he retired at the age of 62. Throughout the years, he loved car shows and showing off his 1971 Ford Torino.
On April 27, 1974, Marty was united in marriage with Sheri Hacker. Two children, Corey and Lisa, were born to this union. The couple divorced in 1985.
On June 2, 2001, Marty was blessed with a second marriage, this time with Carol Downing, and Marty received the gift of six stepchildren.
Marty is survived by his children Corey Leiting of Sherburn, Minnesota and Lisa (Josh) Tigges of Carroll; six stepchildren: Chris (Johnie) Downing of Guthrie Center; Jerri (Matt) Hawkins of Panora; Anne Downing of St. Louis, Missouri; Beatrice (Nick) Radel of Arizona; Valerie (Anthony) Downing-Ciaravella of Arizona; Victoria (George) Toms of North Dakota; three grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; a sister Marsha Espinoza of Arizona; brothers: Matt Leiting of Arizona; Mitch (Lenni) Leiting of Arizona; Monte (Karen) Leiting of Carroll; Maury Leiting of Boone; and Marshall Leiting of Omaha, Nebraska; a sister-in-law Peggy Leiting of Carroll; a brother-in-law Kenny Terlisner of Des Moines; and by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carol Leiting; his parents Melvin and Marilyn Leiting; sister Michelle Terlisner; brothers Mark Leiting and Mike Leiting; and a brother-in-law Alex Espinoza.
