Marv Braunschweig

Marvin “Marv” Braunschweig, 74, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at HIA Heather House, Fargo, ND.

Marv was born on July 9, 1951, to August and Erma (Knutson) Braunschweig, in Ada, MN. He grew up in Ada, spending time on the family farm, and graduated from Ada High School in 1969. He then attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, where he earned is B.S. degree in Economics in 1973. After graduating, he began his career with Plunketts Furniture as an office manager.

Marv met Dorothy Tollefson while bowling at Cactus Jacks, not long after they were united in marriage on June 20, 1987. After Plunketts closed their doors, Marv began working for Robert Gibb and Sons in Fargo, before working for United Accounts, also in Fargo, retiring in 2014 due to illness.

Marv had a great passion for sports. He enjoyed playing softball, golf, bowling, and darts. He could watch any sport that was playing on the tv, but loved to go to NDSU, Twins, and Vikings sporting events. He bled purple for the Vikings. Marv and Dorothy were Red Hawks season ticket holders for many years and enjoyed attending many of their games. He loved spending time with Dorothy at their lake place, going for pontoon rides and fishing off the back, and having campfires with friends in the evenings.

Marv is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Braunschweig; mother-in-law, Lois Tollefson; brothers-in-law, Chuck Tollefson and Myron (Jeane) Tollefson; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, August and Erma; father-in-law, Ernie Tollefson; brother-in-law, Brad Tollefson; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., followed by the celebration of life service at 7:00 P.M., Friday, October 10, 2025, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. A livestream of the service will be available here on Marv's webpage.
