Funeral services for Marvel Alvis Tidwell, 92, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 10:00 a.m, Saturday, November 15, 2025 in the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Angee Armstrong and The Reverend Neale Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery with Derek Estep, Jordan Cappers, Jared Cappers, Wes Burton, Brad Burton, and Brandon Robinson serving as pallbearers.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8:00 p.m., Friday, November 14, at Rosser Funeral Home.
Marvel Alvis Tidwell passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 in Cleburne. He was born December 17, 1932 in Tolar to J.V. "Mack" and Leona Smith Tidwell. He was a 1951 graduate of Tolar High School and served in the United States Army from 1953-1955 and received a National Defense Service Medal. Marvel married LaJuan Roden on January 3, 1953 in Cleburne.
Marvel was a retired professional truck driver for Texas Industries for more than 20 years and a born-again Christian since early age. He was a member of Henderson Street Baptist Church where he was an ordained Deacon and a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Marvel loved to drive down the road and talk to his Lord while driving; also visiting the sick in the hospital and nursing homes.
Marvel was preceded in death by his parents; wife, LaJuan (Roden) Tidwell; brothers, J.D. Tidwell and Lee Roy Tidwell; and sisters, Mae Lyons and Bobbye Russ.
Survivors include his children, Vikki Reynolds and husband Charles of Arlington, Gary Don Tidwell and wife Linda, and Nelda Cappers and husband Johnny, all of Cleburne; grandchildren, Catherine Reynolds, Misty Tidwell Robinson and husband Brandon, Wes Burton and wife Melissa, Brad Burton and wife Jennifer, Derek Estep and wife Lauren, Jordan Cappers and Ashleigh and Jared Cappers and wife Meagan; 13 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family of Marvel Tidwell would like to thank the staff of Cleburne Court and Aleve Care Hospice for their kindness and care during this difficult time.
