Funeral services for Dawn Benton, 73, of Cleburne, Texas, will be conducted at 3 pm Friday, November 7, 2025, in the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kody Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Rio Vista Cemetery with Bobby Killion, Travis Beasley, Jake Martin, Izak Ramirez, Tanner Hewitt, Prestyn Hewitt, Brian Dunn, and Chad Maynard as pallbearers.
Dawn passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, at her home. She was born in Big Springs, Texas, on June 23, 1952, the daughter of Dorothy Drew (Fletcher) and Thomas N. Belew.
Dawn was Miss Arlington Heights High School and graduated in 1970. She went on to attend Texas Tech and was a proud alumna. Dawn became a widow at 25 and could persevere in the toughest of situations. She went on to raise two sons, whom she deeply adored. She loved her grandchildren and grand dogs. She never lost her sense of spirit from being a cheerleader in junior high and high school; she loved cheering on her favorite teams, including Texas Tech, the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers, and the Dallas Mavericks. She will be remembered for her wit, sense of humor, and perseverance. Dawn knew how to light up a room and loved being a part of something special. No matter what age, she knew how to have fun! She will be deeply missed by her family, whom she made the center of her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Dorothy Belew; her husband, Tommy Hewitt; and her sister, Karen Rambo.
Dawn is survived by her sons, Tommy Hewitt and wife, Wendi of Rio Vista and Ryan Benton and wife, Carey of Covington, Texas; grandchildren, Tanner and Prestyn Hewitt, and Izak Ramirez, sisters, Debbie Bradshaw of the Woodlands, Texas and Cheryl Belew of Weatherford, Texas; nephews, Daren and Troy Bradshaw, Bobby Killion, and Cody Hobgood; niece, Lauren Dunn; and several other family members and friends.
