Marvin Nile Harris, 66, of Spirit Lake passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Accura Healthcare in Spirit Lake with family by his side.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 1, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. at the Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Nile Harris was born February 27, 1956, in Sioux City, Iowa to Marvin Nile and Beverly Ann (Mosher) Harris. He graduated from South Sioux City High School. After graduating, he worked with his father and managed a number of businesses in the South Sioux City, NE area.
He was united in marriage to Ruth "Tootie" Zeisler on December 13th, 1975 and were married for 40 years. Together they raised two sons and a daughter. Jason, Heather and Josh.
Nile was diagnosed with M.S. when he was 27 years old. Although the disease slowed him physically over time, he always remained positive and refused to give up.
He was well known around town and had the ability to make friends wherever he went. He enjoyed sharing stories and loved to make people laugh. His children and grandchildren were the joy of his life and he loved nothing more than to watch them grow up.
Nile was a fun-loving and generous man. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents (Marvin and Beverly) and his sister (Sandra Rymill). Left to cherish his memory are his children Jason (Janae) Harris of Jefferson, SD; Heather (Derek) Benson of Shorewood, MN; Josh Harris of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren Adelyn Harris, Elliana Harris, Brady Benson and Brooke Benson; sisters Sue Harris of Daytona Beach, FL; Kristine Bengford of South Sioux City, Nebraska; and Scott (Charlene) Harris of Sioux Falls, SD.
