Jim passed away, peacefully, in his home, Saturday Dec. 6th, 2025, at the age of 92. Born in Batavia, Clermont County, Ohio, Jim was the husband of 67 years to the loving Babette Joy Young (House); beloved son of the late Russell Glen and Martha “Inez” Young (McAfee); devoted father of Theresa Lynn (Jack) Dillow, Michael James (Tina) Young, and the late Margaret Joanne Young; cherished grandfather of Sarah (Brandon) Johnson, Katlynn Dillow, Lynnsey Dillow, Joshua (Ana) Young, Jessica (Jacob) Day, Jonathan Young, Jennifer (Mitchell) Owenby, Jacob Young, Jeremy Young, and Gerald Hayes; treasured great grandfather of 17; dear brother of Richard Lee Young, Pam Jane Harris, the late Jackie Edward (the late Phyllis) Young, the late Johnnie Frederick (the late Iva) Young, and the late Donald Alfred (Lois survives) Young; uncle of Jennifer Eleen (Kenn) Young-Bower, Jay Frederick Young, and Daniel Adam (Rachel) Young; cousin and friend to many.

Jim retired from Monsanto after 31 years of dedicated service as a Senior Research Lab Technician. Growing up, Jim enjoyed fishing, camping, and horseback riding with his twin brothers, Jackie and Johnnie, which he made a part of his family life, and carried on to his children. Jim lived his early years with his parents and grandparents Clefton and Clara Young (Wallace) on the family farm in Mt. Orab, Brown County, Ohio. Later he accompanied his father traveling south seeking work. He also lived in Cincinnati and finally settling in Dayton, Ohio. Jim graduated from Kaiser High School and attended Sinclair College for 2 years, studying drafting. Jim did sheet metal work with his dad at the age of 16. As a draftsman, he worked for Montgomery County Planning Commission, Frigidaire, Duriron Company, and finally Monsanto in St. Louis, MO. Jim enjoyed canoeing, gardening, woodworking, and crafts, as well as hunting and lunches with retired coworkers. His spare time was spent at Steam Engine Meets, Renaissance Days, collecting antiques, and searching for fossils and arrowheads, and wood crafting. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

You may be gone from this earthly world, but you will never be gone from out hearts.
