Mary Dennis Bennett, 79, passed away peacefully on January 11th after a long illness. She was a loving wife to Tom for 52 1/2 years, mother to Patty and Joe (Jennifer) and Grammy to Anna Grace, Abigail and her grand dogs. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ursula and Charlie O'Keefe, brother-in-law, Jim Bennett and sister-in-law, Martha Cubbage.
She was a lifelong resident of Louisville and faithful Catholic attending Holy Spirit, Sacred Heart and Spalding University. After graduating from Spalding University, she taught primary grades before beginning her most rewarding job of raising her two children. She was an active member of St. Barnabas and St. Martha and an avid card player and family historian.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Tom, children Patty and Joe (Jennifer), granddaughters Anna Grace and Abigail, aunt Joan Barnes, sister-in-law, Phyllis Bennett and brother-in-law, Roger Cubbage, special friends - Janie Norris, Helen O'Daniel, Jim and Vickey Callahan, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, January 17th at 10 a.m. from St. Martha Catholic Church, 2825 Klondike Lane, followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, January 16th from 3-7 p.m. at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road.
Her family would like to express their thanks to Eldercare, Louisville East, Suburban and Hosparus for providing care and support.
Expressions of sympathy can be made to St. Martha, Crusade for Children, Mass of the Air or Kentucky Mutts Animal Rescue. Online condolences may be shared at www.ratterman.com.
