Mary Lee Breeden, 85, of Elkton, Virginia, passed away Monday, October 6, 2025, at her home. Born July 15, 1940, in the Rocky Bar area of Rockingham County, she was the daughter of the late James Earman and Mary Roach Shifflett.
Mary attended Montevideo High School. She was a lifetime member of St. Stephen and the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church. Mary served as President of E.A. Breeden, Inc. until the time of her death. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Mary loved decorating, especially during the holidays. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
In January of 1958, she married Eddie A. Breeden, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Dan R. Breeden and wife, Korena; daughter-in-law, Peggy Breeden; two brothers, Kenneth Shifflett, Floyd Shifflett; four grandchildren, Michael Colby Breeden and wife, Melanie, Kelly Breeden and husband, Doug Hammer, Kyle Breeden and fiancée, Abby, Brandon Breeden and wife, MacKenzie; eight great-grandchildren, Madison Voight, Reagan Voight, Kennedy Voight, Irie Hammer, Teagan Marie Breeden, Oaklynn Breeden, Hudson Breeden and Liam Breeden, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Alden Breeden; 6 siblings, and a granddaughter, Emily Breeden.
A Funeral Service will be conducted 11 a.m., Thursday, October 9, 2025, at St. Stephen and the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Rocky Bar with the Rev. Laura Lockey officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen and the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, PO Box 584, Elkton, VA 22827.
