Born on June 7, 1940, in Brooklyn, NY to the late Rocco and Antoinette (Albano) Imperiale, settling in Bordentown, NJ 23 years ago, where she built a home filled with love, humor, and her signature touch.
Even though she spent much of her life in New Jersey, Marie was a Brooklyn girl through and through. Some of her family's most cherished memories with her were around food. She was an extraordinary cook, and her legendary sauce, meatballs and lasagna were the centerpiece of countless gatherings. In her iconic strawberry-themed kitchen, she not only prepared meals but also created memories, always keeping her Italian heritage alive.
She had a sweet tooth and a love of angel perfume, little indulgences that reflected her playful spirt. Marie's childlike joy shone through in her collections, especially her beloved dolls. She was always ready with a good prank and a sparkling sense of humor, her laughter was unforgettable.
Her love of animals was best shown through her soul mate and faithful companion Gizmo, who predeceased her on 8/28/23 but remained forever in her heart. Marie also had a special bond with children who were drawn to her warmth and kindness, but her greatest joy were her four Grandchildren.
Marie is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, John; her two daughters, Jorene Anne Gustafsson (Bo), and Dana Marie Vitale; her four grandchildren, Tyler John Gustafsson (Jessica), Stefan Mikael Gustafsson, Nico Philip Vitale, Mariella Dae Vitale; and her two great granddaughters Emma Lucia Gustafsson and Mika Marie Gustafsson.
Her family finds comfort in knowing her spirit lives on in every shared laugh, every sweet bite, and every memory of love she so generously gave.
Memorial donations may be made in Marie's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital www.stjude.org
At the family's request Cremation Services are private.
