Mary Ann Giecek Conte, 55, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025. She was born on July 30, 1970, in Shreveport to Mary Sunshine Volentine Giecek and Alfred Clifford Giecek, and from the very beginning she was known for her caring nature and lively spirit.
Mary Ann was educated in Shreveport, where she attended Northwood High School. She later studied at Louisiana Tech University earning a B.S. degree in Psychology and completed her cosmetology training at Guy's Academy. She went on to become a licensed cosmetologist, using her creativity and talent to help others feel their best.
In addition to her career, Mary Ann found joy in teaching aerobics and encouraging others in health and wellness. She was also an active member of the Moms Devotional Study Group at Trinity High School in Louisville, KY, where she built lasting friendships and poured her heart into fellowship and faith.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her devoted husband and best friend, Christopher Conte. Together they shared not only a deep love for one another, but also a passion for adventure. One of their greatest joys was flying airplanes side by side, an experience that reflected both their bond and their shared spirit of exploration. Their love story was filled with laughter, partnership, and a sense of freedom that carried them through life's journeys.
She is survived by her two sons, Seth and Saben, who were her greatest treasures and proudest accomplishments. She is also survived by her sister, Robin Giecek Merkle (Dr. Paul), and her brother, Clay Giecek (Crystal) as well as her beloved nieces, Allison Cheek (Douglas), Amanda Irvin, Sunnie Giecek, and nephew Harley Giecek. To them, Mary Ann was not only family, but also a trusted confidante, cheerleader, and source of endless encouragement.
Mary Ann's life was defined by her love of family, her faith, and her ability to bring light and laughter into any room she entered. She had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued, and her warmth and generosity touched countless lives. She enjoyed spending time with her family, celebrating traditions, and sharing in life's simple joys.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of her children, family, and friends who will forever cherish the love, kindness, and adventurous spirit she gave so freely.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at Osborn Funeral Home, Shreveport, LA on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 11:00am. All who loved Mary Ann are invited to come together to honor her life and legacy.
