Mary Stella Czyzewski

Mary Stella Czyzewski, age 86, of Rockaway Twp., NJ, went into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, November 7, 2025.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Mary was raised in Bayonne and Jersey City, NJ. She later made her home in Lake Shawnee where she lived for 50 years before settling in White Meadow Lake eight years ago.
A woman of deep faith, Mary was a devoted member of Grace Church on the Mount in Netcong, NJ.
Mary dedicated many years of her life to caring for others as a medical assistant with Denville Associates of Internal Medicine where she worked with compassion and dedication until her retirement in 2016.
Affectionately known as "Mama Ski" to those who loved her, Mary was known for her strength, kindness, quick wit, and famous one liners. Her endearing goofiness was a treasure, and never failed to have you either scratching your head or bursting with laughter. She also had a special love for her cats and took great joy in their companionship.
She was predeceased by her mother, Mary Rose Lewandowski, her stepfather Andrew Anthony Lewandowski, and her infant son, Anthony Czyzewski.
She is survived by four children: Rosemary Ashby, Mark Czyzewski, Cynthia Simon, and Laurie Czyzewski; two grandchildren: Eric Ashby and Valentyna Simon; and her brother: Lew Mark-Andrews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at the Whitham-Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave., Rockaway, NJ 07866. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover, NJ.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Grace Church on the Mount in Netcong, NJ on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM followed by a short repast in the church cafe.
Bright colored clothing is encouraged for all services.
