It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Duplantis, born on June 23, 1932, in Bell City, Louisiana. Mary departed this world on November 25, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and cherished memories.
Mary was a devoted homemaker whose nurturing spirit and fierce dedication to her family were felt by all who knew her. She took great joy in spending time with her loved ones, sharing stories, and creating a cozy home filled with laughter and fondness. She found comfort in the simple pleasures of life, often seen crocheting in her favorite chair, tending to her beloved flowers, and enjoying occasional outings to the casino.
Mary is survived by her two cherished daughters, Diana Matte and her husband Dana, Delores Fontenot and her husband Red; her daughter-in-law, Susan Duplantis. She was a proud grandmother to Tina Guidry (Earl), Bryan Matte (Rhonda Shuff), Angie Theunissen (Ryan), Justin Duplantis (Barbara), Jason Duplantis (Annie), Jennifer Zachary (Alex), and Christina Girard (Paul). Her heart expanded with love for her great-grandchildren: Kathryn, Keith, Madalyn (Cole), Chloe, Canyon, Joanna, Alahna, Kirra, Charlotte, Savannah, and Natalie, along with her great-great-granddaughter, Ruari. Her family will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
Mary's rosary will be recited at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa on December 2, 2025, at 1:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. A visitation will take place earlier that day, starting at 9:00 AM, allowing friends and family to pay their respects and celebrate her life. Mary will be laid to rest at Ardoin Cove Cemetery in Welsh, Louisiana. Pallbearers assisting in her service will be Bryan Matte, Keith Matte, Ryan Theunissen, Earl Guidry, Justin Duplantis, Jason Duplantis, Paul Girard, Alex Zachary; honorary pallbearers, Wallace James Ogea, Richard Howard, and Mike Ogea.
As we gather to honor Mary Duplantis, we invite all who knew her to join in remembrance and reflection, celebrating a remarkable woman whose spirit will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
