Mary Easterwood Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Radney Funeral Home - Alexander City on Jul. 31, 2023.
Graveside Service for Mrs. Mary W. Easterwood, 92, of Equality, will be Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at 10:00 am at the Equality Methodist Church Cemetery. Randy Anderson will officiate.
Mrs. Mary W. Easterwood, a beloved wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully in Tallassee, Alabama, on July 29, 2023. Mary was born on March 3, 1931 to Sam Wilson, Sr. and Lealer Bell Blackwell Wilson in Coosa County, Alabama, and lived a life full of love, adventure, and friendship.
Mary was a dedicated worker, retiring after over 40 years of service with Russell Mills. She was also a devoted member of Bethesda Baptist Church, where she cultivated her strong faith and community ties. Her passions extended beyond her professional and religious life; she was an avid cook, skilled at crocheting and embroidery, and had a keen eye for antiques and estate sales. Mary's love for life was infectious and she was known for hosting memorable family gatherings on the Fourth of July and Christmas.
She is survived by her husband, Syrell Easterwood; stepdaughter, Annette Hall (Terry); stepson, Mike Easterwood (Pat); grandchildren, Casey Payne (Brandon) and Kristen Easterwood; nieces, Emily Davenport (Reid) and Lisa Stanley; nephews, Randy Wilson (Susan) and Lee Wilson (Vera); sister-in-law, Jean Wilson; and a host of great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry Mahan; parents; brothers, Sam Wilson, Jr., Paul Wilson, and Charlie Will Wilson; and sister-in-law, Fran Wilson.
Those who knew Mary will remember her as a loving and friendly woman with an adventurous spirit. Her warm heart and love for her family and friends were apparent in everything she did. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her spirit will live on through the countless lives she touched and the memories she created.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Equality Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
