Mary Louise Ewing

Mary Louise Cobos Ewing was born on May 13, 1925, in Alpine, Texas, and passed away on December 26, 2024 at the age of 99. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Charles Thomas Ewing, who was in the Air Corp in WWII.

Mary graduated from Coleman High School in 1943. She worked for Western Union in Laredo and Austin before dedicating over 40 years to selling Avon products, earning recognition as a devoted "Avon Lady." Mary started her Avon career in Abilene, Texas, in 1966 and continued after the family moved to Irving, Texas, in 1967.

Mary lived in Abilene from 1949 to 1967 and in Irving from 1968 to 2012. For the past 13 years, she resided with her daughter Deborah Holland and son-in-law Michael Shields, both in South Carolina and Fort Worth, Texas.

Mary is survived by her children: Gary Ewing (retired salesman) and his wife Cindy, and Deborah Holland (retired teacher) and her husband Michael Shields. Her oldest son, Dr. Rodney Ewing, a professor at Stanford University, preceded her in death. He passed away on July 13, 2024, and is survived by his wife, Helga.

Mary was a devoted mother and grandmother, remembered for her work ethic, kindness, and compassion. She inspired her family with her humility and unwavering love.

Charles and Mary are survived by six grandchildren: Travis Ewing, Allison Ewing, Christopher Ewing, Elizabeth Ewing, Daniel Holland, and Angela Reedy.

They have ten wonderful great-grandchildren: Alexis, Sawyer, Kalea, Malina, Caleb, Lillianna, Steen, Lanie, Marla, and Luca.

Mary's legacy of love, dedication, and integrity will forever live in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
