Mary Gironda

Mary (Mariano) Gironda, formerly of Bayonne, NJ, passed away. Saturday, May 18, 2024. Mary was preceded in death her beloved husband, Vito Gironda, and her parents, Mario and Frances (Messina). She is survived by her sister, Ann (Mariano) Wasko, by her sons Vito Gironda, Michael (Marie) Gironda, and Robert (Susan) Gironda, by her grandchildren, David Gironda, Matthew Gironda, Megan Gironda, Laura Gironda, Danny Gironda, Tracy Colonna and Tiffany Wilkie. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Alexander Gironda, Ava Gironda, Joseph Colonna, and Olivia Colonna, and by many nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Mary's greatest pleasure was to be "with people," including her family members and her friends. Her house was always welcoming, and Mary always had everyone's favorite food and/or dessert ready! Whether she made the eggplant parmigiana that everyone loved, the chicken cutlets they devoured, escarole and beans that was taken home in containers, or her famous bundt cakes, you were sure to be satisfied! Mary was completely dedicated to her sons and their families, and like her time spent with the Bridgemen Drum Corps, assisting and fund raising, Mary would thrive on spending time with her sons and their friends. She was fondly known as "Nanny" to her grandchildren and great-children, and they loved being with her.
Mary also loved playing Bingo and playing cards with her "girlfriends" each week. She developed great friendships with these ladies and was loved by everyone who met her.
Family and Friends are welcome to visit the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home 2482 Church Road, Toms River, NJ. On Tuesday, May 21, 2024, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Justin R.C. Church, 973 Fischer Boulevard, Toms River, NJ on Wednesday, May 22, at 9:30 AM. Internment will occur at Holy Cross Cemetery and Mausoleum, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Mary's Memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at StJude.org
