Mary Janet (Pude) Gott
Mary Janet (Pude) Gott, of Harborcreek PA, lovingly known as "Nana", "Marijanet" and "Aunt Jan", passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday November 16th 2025 at the age of 87. She was born in Erie PA, the youngest child of the late William and Marie Pude.
Mary graduated from McDowell High School class of '56, where she met her class of '54 sweetheart, Gordon. He was a sax player in the "Johnny Roberts Dance Kings" band that used to play dances at the YMCA and around Erie. She said she used to love to watch him play and tried to keep the other girls away, "haha". They were married in 1960, and moved to Harborcreek in 1964 where they spent their remaining years.
Mary enjoyed all kinds of music. She loved tending her flowers, spending time outside in her yard, and loved to watch the clouds go by. She enjoyed all animals but was truly a dog lover, especially her dear Grizzly and her neighbors dogs too. Mary's special gift was her ability to share her kind, gentle spirit and make you instantly feel welcomed, genuinely engaged in knowing you, and never forgetting anything you shared with her. Truly an amazing Mom, Nana, neighbor, and caring friend who loved others and especially loved the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 39 years (Robert) Gordon Gott; her sisters Virginia "Ginny" Totman and Elaine Pude; and a brother William "Buddy" Pude.
She is also survived by her son John Gott (Cathy); granddaughter Marie Service (Monty); grandson Daniel Gott; her expanded family of Nikki Zeyfang (Josh), Emily Sax (Justin), and Zachary Nesselhauf (Kelly); 13 Great Grandchildren she just adored; and her older brother Ronald, of Tennessee. Also very dear to her were David Slomski and his sister Lisa Slomski, Ted Hallgren, and "Joey" Joe Schneider Jr., whom she called her other son. She also had several nieces and nephews she loved. Nephew Rick Totman (Debbie) were especially close.
Funeral services and burial were private. Funeral arrangements were made by the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, 16504.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Anna Shelter, www.theannashelter.com.
