ROCKVILLE – Mary Jean (Brown) Hardy, 76, of Rockville, Indiana, passed away Monday, October 13, 2025, at her residence. She was born April 23, 1949, in Rockville, Indiana, to the late Arthur Brown and Eulala Davis Brown.
She was a retired assembly worker for Dormeyer Industries in Rockville, where she was a dedicated employee for 37 years from 1967 until 2004. After graduating in 1967 from Alamo High School in Montgomery County, where she was proud to be part of the last graduating class of only four students, Mary moved to Waynetown as a child before returning home to Rockville after graduation, where she spent the remainder of her life.
Mary married David S. Hardy on September 3, 1983, in Rockville, and they shared 20 years together before his passing on June 4, 2004.
Survivors include her sister, Elizabeth Zachary of Crawfordsville; niece, Tammy (Brad) Plank of Crawfordsville; nephews, Bob Carey of Crawfordsville, David (Janey) Carey of Crawfordsville, Bill (Sally) Carey of Pensacola, Florida, and Greg (Jennifer) Whipple of Camby, Indiana; along with several great-nieces and great-nephews and several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Irene French; nephew, Allen Carey; and niece, Brenda (Carey) Hart.
Mary enjoyed making crafts and was well known for selling her handmade creations at the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival. She loved dogs and had a special place in her heart for children, especially her nieces, nephews, and their families. She was also a member of the Parke County Senior Citizens organization.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2025, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville, with Pastor Keith B. McIntyre officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials should friends so desire, may be made to the Parke County Food Pantry, P.O. Box 222, Rockville, Indiana 47872, or Montezuma Independent Baptist Church, P.O. Box 8, Montezuma, Indiana 47862, in her memory.
