Mary B. Holsten

Mary Strater Holsten, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was a vibrant tapestry of family and faith, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 88. Mary was born on February 21, 1937, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to M. Wade and Lydia Strater. She attended the University of Nebraska Omaha, where she met the love of her life, Robert Holsten. They shared a lifelong romance that began with their marriage on August 24, 1957. She had a tremendous zest for life, loving to travel and experience the world. Above all, her family was her top priority. She was the heart and keeper of her family's joy, ensuring that traditions and holidays were celebrated with warmth and enthusiasm. She lived to have her family around her, filling her home with laughter and unconditional love.

Mary is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Jeff D. (wife, Donna) Holsten, Sara L. Clark and Alison D. (husband, Rick) Bond; son-in-law, Steve Hutson; grandchildren, Brad Holsten, Bobby (fiancé, Edu) Clark, Megan Clark, Alie Hutson, Jorie Hutson, Alexandra Villa, Nick Klepinger, Madalyn Klepinger, Elaina (fiancé, Jonny) Klepinger, Chloe (husband, Tanner) Pray, Luke Bond; great grandchildren, Addi, Riley, and Bennett Holsten, Finley, Luca, and Vincent Villa, Fiona Klepinger and Francesca Rubio. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Stacy D. Hutson and brother, Maurie Strater.

Mary’s family would like to thank Kim, Myra, Konah, and Lydia for the loving care they provided.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Monday, October 27, at Carmel United Methodist Church where family and friends are invited to gather from 2:00pm until the time of service. Burial will follow in Carmel Cemetery.
