Mary Lou Johnson entered into the gates of heaven on Monday, May 26. She was born on August 19, 1927, in Sulphur Springs, Texas to James Milton and Mabel Sparks. In 1941 after many moves in Texas and Arizona, her family (she was the oldest of 10) eventually settled in Delhi, California. Mary graduated from Hilmar high school. After extended and persistent pursuit by William B Johnson (Bill), she said yes, and they married in July 1949. Mary enjoyed being a kindergarten teacher in Patterson and being a mother before moving to Ventura County in 1957. There her family grew, and she was busy serving her Lord at the Simi Valley Church of Christ. She led many Bible studies, teaching Sunday school and was a gracious hostess to those in and outside the church. In 2004 Bill and Mary chose to return to their roots in Turlock, moving into Covenant Living. They enjoyed all the friends they reconnected with, and new ones made.
Mary was proceeded in death by her husband, Bill and daughter-in-law Tamara Johnson. She is survived by her four children David Johnson of Madison, Wisconsin; Victoria (William) Bray of Pendleton, Indiana; Randy (Teri) Johnson of Simi Valley, California and Joan (Bryan) Smith of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Her family will always remember her as their faithful prayer warrior, loving mom, grandmother and GG.
