Mary Alice Keen, of Sugar Valley, Georgia, peacefully passed away on June 23, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on May 9, 1938, in Hahira, Georgia, she was the beloved daughter of the late Alton C. Kimsey Sr. and Macy Kimsey (Webb). On February 18, 1956, Mary married the love of her life, Grady L. Keen. Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in love, family, and faith until Grady's passing on March 19, 1993. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Mary's life was a reflection of the Christian values she held dear. In addition to lovingly raising her children, Mary served in a number of professional roles throughout her life. She worked as a church secretary, a civil service employee, and an administrative assistant with Georgia Timberland Company. She also enjoyed her time working at Macy's department store. A faithful member of Macon Christian Church, Mary was devoted to serving her church community, teaching Sunday school and helping with Vacation Bible School each summer. Mary was known for her kind and generous spirit. A gracious caregiver, she had a heart for helping others and always gave freely of her time. She also enjoyed decorating, crafting, and cooking-gifts she shared with family, friends, and neighbors alike. Mary is preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, and her siblings Wayne Kimsey, Randall Kimsey, and Alton Kimsey. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Steve Keen (Dianne), Felicia Brownlee (Wayne), Patty Lindsey (Gordon), Denese Allen (Jeff), and Lisa Marshall (Jeff); her grandchildren: Lance Keen (Tiffany), Travis Keen (Sarah), Pierce Keen, Jessica Marlin (Jake), Elizabeth Burgess (Shannon), Adam Green, Jacob Green (Stacey), Meredith Overcash (Jordan), Nicholas Marshall, Ethan Marshall, Olivia Marshall, Robert Allen, Travis Allen, and Daryl Allen; and her great-grandchildren: Keeley Chastain (Evan), Kendyl Williams, Triston Cannon, Dawson Burgess, Emery Burgess, Grady Keen, Luke Green, Sadie Green, Levi Green, Hayden Overcash, Kylie Overcash, Nova Overcash, Adalyn Green, Gracie Marlin, and Josie Marlin. She is also survived by her siblings: Raymond Kimsey (Crystal), Jerry Kimsey (Rose), David Kimsey (Cathy), Joan Kilgore (Carl), and Linda Kimsey. A celebration of Mary's life will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Pastor Steve Pettit will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Memorial Donations Fund through Branches of Christ Church, on branchesofchrist.com. With honor, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with the arrangements.
