Mary Jane Medlin, 97, of Republic, MO, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 24, 2024, surrounded by her family. Mary Jane was the fourth child of nine born to Wilbur and Mary (McFarland) Farris on December 1, 1926, near Booneville, MO, where she grew up on a large cattle farm and attended Booneville schools. After graduation, while at a local picnic, she met her future husband, Leon E. Medlin. She waited patiently for Leon to return home from the War and married him on June 24, 1946.
They lived and worked in Kansas City, KS, for many years before moving to Republic in 1970. Jane worked at MFA Farmers Exchange on Main Street in Republic for several years then was elected to local government as city collector for 16 years. They were long-time members of Hood United Methodist Church and shared a passion for Republic city administration. She loved her family completely with her generosity and maternal concern. She was always homebase for her children and she loved to cook delicious country- style dinners. She filled our holidays with many special memories.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Patricia Reichel, all seven brothers, Lacy, Mac, Dub, Wilb, Bob, Ted, and Larry. Survivors include son, Kevin E. Medlin, (Ronda), granddaughter Laura Kay, (David), great-granddaughter, Madison; son, Kent E. Medlin, (Angie), granddaughters Lacey Medlin and Allie Cooper, (Jacob), their sons, Ryze, Kai, and baby boy on the way; grandson Jarred, (Jessica), great-grandkids, Emery, Ava and Elias.
Celebration of life will be held in the fellowship hall at the First Christian Church, 443 N. Main, Republic, on June 30th from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. There will be no formal visitation. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, in honor of Lacey R. Medlin.
