Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors - Reese Chapel on Dec. 17, 2025.
Mary Ann (Elbers) Mossner, 82, of
Reese, Michigan passed peacefully at home on December 15, 2025, embraced by her family's love as she entered the arms of Jesus.
She was born to the late Walter and Florence (Reinbold) Elbers in
Saginaw, Michigan on July 2, 1943 - a birthday that became even more meaningful as it was one she shared with her daughter Nan and grandson Kyle. Mary Ann received her elementary education at Trinity Lutheran School, was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Reese where she was confirmed on June 9, 1957. She was a 1961 graduate of Reese High School. On October 25, 1961, she wed Bruce Mossner, the love of her life, in
Reese, Michigan. Together, they raised their three daughters in a home full of love and laughter.
She began working at Zehnder's of Frankenmuth as a waitress during her high school years and later returned to devote more than 15 years to the Bakery & Foodstore once her daughters were in school. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends. A lover of cooking and baking, she delighted in sharing homemade meals and treats with others, especially plates of Christmas goodies. Friends and family knew they could call her for a recipe, but her directions were often guided by the heart rather than exact measurements. She was a devoted fan of the Reese Rockets, Michigan State football, and the Kansas City Chiefs, cheering them on with passion and enthusiasm.
She is survived by her three daughters, Beverly "Bev" Rappley of Wesley Chapel, Florida, Nanette "Nan" (Michael) Hugan of Gladwin, and Christine "Chris" of Charlotte; three grandchildren, Kayla (Jason) Schroeder and their children Jack, Liam and Addison; Kyle (Lexi) Rappley and their children Zaya and Sophia; and Travis Hugan. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law Jeanette Elbers and Missy Elbers as well as many nieces and nephews to whom she was their "Aunt Mare." In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Charles "Chuck" Elbers, Timothy "Tim" Elbers and sister Barbara "Bobbie" Solgat.
Funeral Services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2025, from Trinity Lutheran Church in Reese. Reverend Daniel Burhop will officiate with Committal Services to follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Reese. Mary Ann's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw St. in Reese on Sunday for 3 p.m.-7p.m. and at the church on Monday 10 a.m. until time of services.
