Mary Murphy

Mary Maureen Murphy passed away peacefully at Henry Ford Hospice Home in Jackson, Michigan at the age of 75 on December 20, 2025. She was born on May 10, 1950 to Jack and Evalin Murphy in Lansing, Michigan then eventually raised in Jackson and attended St. John's Catholic High School. She graduated from Michigan State University with a BA in Education and also earned an Associate Degree for a Legal Assistant.
Mary's individual guiding light led her to many roles including elementary substitute teacher, bookkeeper, nanny, legal assistant and long time insurance adjuster. However, her most rewarding role was pet sitting and enjoying the purrs and wags from the local cats and dogs she came to know very well.
She was a loyal fan of Snoopy and Charlie Brown and an expert at crossword puzzles and trivia. She especially enjoyed her weekly garage sale outings with her friends, the Eders.
Mary's kind and optimistic spirit will be missed immensely. She is survived by her sister Laurel, who was always at her side during her long illness; brother, John (Jeri) Murphy and sister, Nancy (Dennis) Werth, nephews, a niece, and cousins.
Family members and those friends promoted to family will always have loving memories of Mary, especially when they see Charlie Brown and Snoopy.
Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place and private interment will be held at St. John Cemetery.
