Mary Frances Nichols, age 58 of Manhattan, passed away unexpectedly on August 23, 2025. Survived by her dear husband Trevor Nichols, daughter Ella Nichols, siblings Patricia Dalen, James (late Patti) Gaskin, Leslie (Rick) Perry, Gerald (Kelly) Gaskin, and Terrence (Geri O'Connor) Gaskin, nieces Colleen (Steve) Nowak and Ciara Gaskin, nephews Aaron (Diana) Dalen, Sean (Jenn) Gaskin, Kurt Masepohl, Aidan, Patrick, and Cian Gaskin, and beloved best friend Heidi (Bill) Simpson. Numerous cousins and great nephews also survive. Preceded in death by her parents James and Margaret Gaskin (nee Keating), sister Kathryn Gaskin, and their beloved dogs Kermi and Duncan.

Mary Frances was born in Chicago Heights and raised in Park Forest. She graduated from Marian Catholic High School, playing softball throughout and further cultivating her faith in the Lord. Her professional journey began at Ruan Transportation Management Systems, but when she met the love of her life, she shifted her focus to building a family and devoted her time to raising their darling daughter. Her decision to stay at home was a testament to her dedication to Ella's upbringing, who views her as the most extraordinary mom that she could confide in about any and everything.

She took great pride in her Irish heritage and Catholic faith. Her firm beliefs, incredible family, and devoted friends helped in grounding her already spirited outlook on life, which she always aimed to live to the fullest. Her loyalty to her sports teams of the White Sox, Bears, Bulls, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish exemplified her love for games and groups. She was the epitome of social planning and a true force to be reckoned with when it came to getting things done. She never took shortcuts- every activity she created and organized would be covered down to the last detail. She knew how to take care of everyone and was seen as the glue by many. She had the magic ability of bringing people together that would otherwise not be. She was hilarious by nature and notably made her sweet husband laugh every single day. Her leading presence brought a light to every room that could never be dimmed. Mary Frances loved travelling with Trevor and Ella and being sure of capturing anything that came their way through her endless collection of photographs. If she was going anywhere, she wanted to absorb every experience and not miss a single marvel the world had to offer. Deeply cherished wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend to many who will be missed beyond words.

Visitation for Mary Frances will take place on Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Prayers will be held the next day, August 29, 2025 at 9:30 A.M., also at the funeral home, followed by procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manhattan, IL for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. Interment Saint Joseph Cemetery, Manhattan, IL. Arrangements entrusted to Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, 507 S. State St., Manhattan, IL 60442, 815-478-3321, www.forsythegouldfh.com.
