Ronald R. Shipman "Ron", age 84 of Joliet, passed away on August 12, 2025. Survived by his brother Walt (Ruth) Shipman, his nephews Scott D. and Steven C. Shipman, and his niece Pamela D. Shipman. Preceded in death by his parents Russell Edward and Alberta M. Shipman and his niece Elisa Shipman.

Ron's journey through life was marked by his love for sports, his country, and his faith. As a young man, Ron and his brother made a name for themselves on the Milan Merchants semi-pro baseball team. Ron carried his passion for baseball to Rock Island High School, where he continued to develop his love for the game. Following high school, he proudly served our nation as an Airman in the Navy during the Vietnam War. His happy-go-lucky spirit as a child evolved into a man who carried a good sense of humor, resilience, and a friendly disposition. In his later stages of life, Ron enjoyed the simple pleasures of playing games of cribbage with his brother and sister-in-law and spending time with his resident friends at The Pearl of Joliet, where he stayed for over 20 years. He was a big fan of the Chicago Cubs and often read his Bible, bookmarking verses that stood out and meant the most to him.

Visitation for Ron will take place on August 19, 2025 from 12:00-1:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Procession to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery will immediately follow for a committal service with full military honors. Arrangements entrusted to Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, 507 S. State St., Manhattan, IL 60442, 815-478-3321, www.forsythegouldfh.com.
